Good Morning! 2010.08.09 - Psalm 127:1 - Except The Lord Build the House

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

The word vain is used three times in these verses. That should remind us that everything is dependent on the Lord's blessing or the Lord's permission. Jesus said:

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:31-33)

In this psalm we find a reference to children. When the pilgrim went to Jerusalem three times a year, on at least one of those trips he took his family to worship with him.

As you pursue your labor this week, realize that the Lord is with you if you really want Him. He is above you, like it or not. It sure takes a load off our backs if we will walk by faith with our hand in the hand of the Almighty who makes no mistakes and never gets tired and knows all things.
